A Bead with a Story
Originating with the Krobo Tribe in Ghana, Africa, this cobalt blue recycled glass bead blend history with artwork. It is made beginning with glass crushed into fine grains, then heated together to form shapes and into a porcelain cast. The stem from a cassava leaf is used to make the bead hole. It is then baked in a furnace to fuse together while the cassava leaf burns away to create the unique glass bead. What a process that has lasted through the centuries! Liz uses her unique creativity to weave the history of the green beads into a necklace with a story to tell.
